Below are images my Great Grandfather took over 100 years ago using the same lens I used in my project above. His images were captured on glass plates.
History in Focus explores Noblesville’s historic homes and buildings through a deeply personal lens. Using my great-grandfather Englebert “Bert” Langenbacher’s 1912 Kodak lens on my modern 4x5 Toyo field camera, I set out to reconnect with his craft more than a century later. Each image was developed in the darkroom at the HCAA’s Birdie Gallery, created as a one-of-a-kind direct positive print. The process was slow, challenging, and deeply meaningful, a blend of technical achievement and personal reflection that bridges family, history, and place.
